RIYADH - Arab Saudi mula menguji jam terbesar di dunia yang terletak menghadap Kaabah di Masjidilharam, Mekah selama tiga bulan bermula Ramadan ini. Setakat ini, hanya satu daripada empat jam siap pada bahagian bangunan mencakar langit yang dijadualkan mencapai ketinggian 600 meter apabila siap sepenuhnya, sekali gus bakal menjadi bangunan kedua tertinggi di dunia selepas Burj Khalifa di Dubai, Emiriyah Arab Bersatu (UAE). Menara itu juga mempunyai permukaan jam dengan diameter 40 meter yang lima kali lebih besar berbanding permukaan jam Big Ben di London, malah mengatasi diameter 36 meter pada permukaan jam di Cevahir Mall, Istanbul, Turki. Satu sahaja daripada empat jam yang siap setakat ini dan permukaan jam itu dihiasi 98 juga kepingan mozek kaca. Jam yang direka jurutera dari Jerman dan Switzerland ini boleh dilihat dari jarak lebih 25 kilometer.
